Preston First XI v Dunstable Town CC
Preston First XI were beaten by 2 wickets away to Dunstable Town CC. Preston won the toss and elected to bat, but were bowled out for 158 in 44.4 overs. Omar Faleel’s unbeaten 39 was the top score, while Jacob Williamson made 36 and Edward Wharton added 29 at the top of the order. Dunstable’s bowlers kept Preston under pressure throughout, with Shahzad Suhail taking 4/35, while Luke Cherry and Jack Kilduff both took 3 wickets. In reply, Dunstable reached 159/8 in 42.4 overs. Sam Cherry’s 27, Matthew Woodcock’s 23 and unbeaten lower-order contributions from Harry McBrearty and Luke Cherry helped Dunstable edge over the line. Edward Wharton completed an excellent all-round display with 4/16, while Peter Murrell took 2/25, but Preston could not quite force the final breakthrough.
Preston Second XI v Stevenage CC
Preston Second XI produced an excellent 95-run win against Stevenage CC. Preston won the toss and elected to bat, but Stevenage had them in real trouble at 19/4. Pushan Chakraborty and youngster Arundeep Natt then rebuilt the innings with a 77-run partnership, taking Preston from 19/4 to 96/5. Chakraborty made 29, while Arundeep went on to top score with 52. Luke Ponder then added an important 38, helping Preston recover to 189 all out from 48 overs. Stevenage’s attack was led by Andrew Lorimer’s 3/36 and Bhanu Kanakala’s 3/43, with Martin Nevill also taking 2/12. In reply, Stevenage were bowled out for 94 in 27.4 overs. Vamshi Kummari’s 42 was their only major resistance, as Mark Waters tore through the innings with 5/25. Ariful Islam also took 3/14, while Bhavin Patel finished with 2/29, completing a superb Preston bowling performance.
Preston Third XI v Sandridge CC
Preston Third XI secured a strong 53-run win against Sandridge CC. Preston won the toss and elected to bat, before being bowled out for 160 in 31 overs, with Sandridge set a revised target of 161 from 40 overs. Amit Rajani held the innings together with an unbeaten 40, while Jaydev Jadav added a valuable 29 lower down the order. Sandridge’s bowling was led by Ben Rose and Abdullah Mamun, who both took 4 wickets, with Zlatko Murphy also taking one. Preston then defended the total superbly, bowling Sandridge out for 107 in 32 overs. Iain Purton led the way with 3/22, while Amit Rajani took 2/22, James Battersby took 2/32, and Oliver Jackson finished with 2/6. It was a complete team bowling effort that sealed another impressive win for the Third XI.
Preston Fourth XI v Hoddesdon CC
Preston Fourth XI were beaten by 4 wickets against Hoddesdon CC. Preston won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 144 all out in 31.3 overs. John Garnham top scored with an excellent 59, while Craig Tennant added 25 at the top of the order. Hoddesdon’s Benjamin Strong produced the decisive spell, taking 7/22, with Daniel Hawkins, Henry Taylor and Martin Atkinson also taking one wicket each. In reply, Hoddesdon reached 145/6 in 31.1 overs. Bilal Ahmad’s unbeaten 72 guided the chase, supported by Louis Webb’s unbeaten 28. Despite the defeat, Srini Nanjundan produced a brilliant achievement for Preston, taking 4 wickets in 4 balls and finishing with 4/18. Gillan Ide also took 2/23, but Hoddesdon recovered to complete the chase.
Preston Sunday 1st XI v Harrold CC
Preston Sunday 1st XI won by 32 runs against Harrold CC. Preston won the toss and elected to bat, before being bowled out for 228 in 38 overs. Peter Murrell led the innings superbly with 94, while young Australian overseas James Doherty struck an explosive 64 from 35 balls. Harrold’s bowlers fought back through Charlie Gordon’s 3/19, while Andrew Monteith, Frederick Linsley and C. Monteith all took 2 wickets each. In reply, Harrold were bowled out for 196 in 38.4 overs. Thomas Nicol’s 47 kept them in the contest, while Simon Pritchard, Pasan Kulasinghe and Euan Dazley all made useful contributions. Preston’s bowling held firm, led by Andrew Riant’s excellent 4/36. Jacob Williamson also bowled tightly for 2/12, as Preston closed out a strong Sunday victory.
