Preston v Winchmore Hill, Chess Valley League, Sunday 16th June 2013
——————————————————————–

After the agony of a last ball defeat the previous week, Preston’s Sunday 1st XI won their first Chess Valley fixture this season in another high scoring and exciting game, against Winchmore Hill. Openers Richard Wharton and Matt Burleigh got Preston off to a flying start, Wharton eventually being dismissed for 75. Dave Fleckney then added 47 as Preston reached 226 for 9 in their 45 overs. Winchmore Hill made a stuttering start, losing two early wickets to fast bowler Ed Wharton, but their middle order put them back into the game with some fast scoring, especially from their USA international.
Preston held their nerve though, and regular wickets from spinners Tom Mercer and Max Anderson, together with the returning Ed Wharton, eventually dismissed Winchmore Hill for 210.
