Preston First XI v Dunstable Town CC

Preston 1s hosted Dunstable Town CC. After Preston won the toss and chose to bowl in a timed game. On a hot day, the Preston spinners found success with Pete Murrell being the highlight of the 1st innings and took  5 – 57 of 16 overs. Despite Murrell’s brilliance, Dunstable finished on 237 of there 58 overs. In response Preston started off brilliantly with Captain Ed Wharton scoring 29 of 18 balls and Jake George accumulating 52 of 77 balls. However, after a middle order collapse led by Dunstable Town’s Sam Cherry who took 6 – 47 of 15 overs as Preston were bowled out for 195 in 47.5 overs. Nonetheless, Preston can take positives out of this game. Notably, the Gallimore brothers’ last wicket partnership of 48 where William ended on 56 runs.

Preston Second XI v Flamstead Cc

Preston 2s were away to Flamstead and won the toss, choosing to bat first. It was in form Pete Gooden again as the highlight of the innings scoring a high-value 41 runs as Preston 2s were bowled out for 195. The Flamstead chase was a thriller, with Preston having them 41 for 6 as the opening bowling combination of Omar Faleel (3-53) and Mark Waters (3-27). However, a formidable 7th wicket partnership for Flamstead of 108 runs between R. Don (63 of 48 balls) and M. Liyanage (59* of 119 balls) were key in their victory by 2 wickets.

 

Preston Third XI v Redbourne CC

Redbourne won the toss elected to field and bowled out Preston for 118, despite Dillon Beatie’s 40 of 49 balls. This was due to Luckhurst and Bassill’s 3 wickets each. In response, Rebourne successfully chased it down but not without a strong fight from the Preston 3XI bowling attack. It was Beattie’s youthful brilliance again, taking a staggering 6-8 of 8 overs. Despite the loss, Preston CC has found a brilliant young player in Dillon, progressing from a youngster to a mainstay in Saturday fixtures for Preston.

 

Preston Fourth XI v Southgate Adelaide CC

A massive win for the Fourth XI against South Adelaide after choosing to bat first. Ian Williamson, a Preston mainstay, came back after long break and scored an important 37 runs and youngster Oliver Clark hit his first senior fifty scoring an eye-catching 69 as Preston finished on 222/8 of their 40 overs. South Adelaide’s response started off well with Rajasinghe’s 34 runs but a collective bowling effort from Preston skittled the opposition for 122.

Preston Sunday 1st  XI v Letchworth Garden City  CC

A heavy loss for Preston at home to Letchworth. Preston were bowled out for 125 batting first with Letchworth’s N. Nimkar taking 3 wickets. Letchworth chased it down, winning by 9 wickets with Tom Kilby being the standout scoring 64 runs. An unfortunate end to a weekend with many positives to take for Preston.
