16 May: U15’s v Redbourne CC
The U15’s finally got their season off and running A v an impressive Redbourn on Wednesday night.
Losing the toss Preston were asked to bat first and quickly lost Adam and Luke bowled by the rapid Oriel. Olly briefly threatened with a couple of boundaries and a six before being bowled by the other opener for 19. Joe (12) and Gabriel (29) dug in and moved the score towards three figures but Rebourne’s left arm seamer and the returning Oriel took three wickets each to bowl out Preston for 109 in the 19th over.
The total was never going to be enough on a tiny and fast outfield and so it proved with Redbourn taking advantage of some rustiness in the Preston’s bowling to reach their target in the 14th over for the loss of 3 wickets (2 for Adam and one for Alex).
You could see that Redbourn had already played twice versus this being Preston’s first game. No doubt we will improve and I expect the boys to give them a much tougher game in the return fixture later in the season.
