Some fantastic results this season from our Junior players – amazing reading. The Coaches have been uploading brief match reports after most of the games so far this season – some incrediable performaces from all of our young members o often against much larger Clubs so really big Well Done All.

29th June – Under 15’s v Ickelford CC

The U11 8 a side team lost out to Ickleford tonight who out batted and bowled an under par Preston team. Ickleford 296-5, Preston 232-12.
Never mind lads, think of the England football team, there’s no disgrace in losing a pool game and going through as runners-up!

27th June – Under 15’s v Stevenage CC

The U15s just lost out to Stevenage earlier this week. Tom Harvey recorded a personal best 26* and together with a well paced Joe Clark 27* were responsible for most of Preston’s 105-2. Billy 16* and Louis 5* produced some unusual shot selection and crazy running to up the score in the final overs. Despite being two players short fielding was committed and with regular wickets falling, an unlikely Preston victory was a possibility until Stevenage lower order got them home at 106-6. Great entertainment for the crowd, credit to both teams.

27th June – Under 11’s v Letchworth CC

Under 11 8 a side moved a step closer to the knockout stage with a win against Letchworth tonight. LGCC 233-9, PCC 269-7. Highlights, a fine 21* for Ally, four fours from Nathan, two wkts for Sam, Harry, Ally and Daniel, two flying catches by Harry Chan. Six wins from seven games, the league decider vs Ickleford this Friday

24th June – Under 11’s v Stevenage CC

Another good win for the Under 11s this morning at Stevenage. A fine opening stand by Ally (12) and a hard hitting Nid (33*), followed by a well paced 33* from Harry Cat, supported by Nathan (16), saw Preston reach 145-3 off 20 overs. Preston bowled and fielded well in reply bowling Stevenage out off the last ball for 82. Fine catches by Harry Cat, Xander, Ally, James and Nid, wickets shared between James (2-5), Callum (1-7), Harry Chan (2-4), Ally (2-4), Sam (2-13) and Nathan (1-14).
Coming into the final week of league games, the U11 8 a side and U14 teams top their tables. Excellent work lads, keep going!

21st June – Under 14’s v WGC CC

7 from 7 for the u14, well played even if at half pace with the ball, good performance with the ball by Tom H as WGC got 106/7 2 excellent ro from Adam and Gabriel. In reply Pushan 24 *and Luke 27 put on 80 before olly 13* saw a quick ending in 12 overs

under 14 carried on their unbeaten run with a 28 run wicket over Stortford. After a early wicket Catlin 40 and Turner 43 retired as we were going at 10 a over. Gabe smacked a quick 26 as we finished on 166/5. kn reply Alex was on a hatrick at the start and with Tom getting 2 wickets they were 24/4. Stortford recovered and finished on 137/5 as some loose fielding gave them a few extra runs, still 6 from 6

19th June – Under 11’s v Letchworth CC

The Under 11 8 a side kept up their group title challenge with an excellent all round performance against Letchworth this evening. Letchworth 275-7, Preston 354-1. Batting in particular was strong with stands of 44 (Xander, Nid), 35 (Harry Chan, Calum), 38 (Daniel, James), 37 (Harry Cat, Robert). Well done boys. Next game is at Hitchin on Friday.

10th June – Under 14’s v St Margaretsbury CC

The U14’s travelled to St Margetsbury with Luke standing in for usual Captain Olly who was missing to represent best of Area against the County. On losing the toss Preston were in the field.

A tight opening 6 over spell from Tom S and Harry saw them each claim a wicket from good catches by Joe Clarke at point. The good work was continued by Adam (2-0-6-1) and Pushan (2-0-8-0) with Gabriel taking a nice catch off Adam to restrict the opposition to 36-3 at the halfway stage. The opposition skipper then took control with some powerful strokes including 1 huge six as he took a liking to the slow bowling of Tom H (2-0-24-0) and Alex (2-0-15-0). Gabriel (2-1-7-0) and Joe (2-0-11-0) slowed the rate and their skipper finally retired on 41*. Tom S (4-0-19-1)and Harry (4-0-19-1) finished off the last two overs and Preston were set 116 to win.

Perhaps a few too many wides but a decent fielding and bowling performance with short boundaries on all side and Ollie S delivered probably his best performance of the year behind the stumps.

Luke and Joe opened up and With some powerful strokes hit 30 from the first 4 overs until Luke (23) perished to a sharp catch at slip (rarely seen at youth level). Joe C (13) was then run out by a direct hit from the boundary attempting a tight 2nd to a decent on drive by Jody (2) who followed soon after c&b. Adam and Gabriel both survived being dropped at slip before Adam (1) drilled a half volley straight at mid-on who did well to hang on it. At this point the game was in the balance as the opposition bowlers were making life difficult for the batsmen.

However Gabriel (41*) continued his good form with the bat with a clever mixture of defence and aggression and ably supported by Pushan (17*) they took the game away from St Margetsbury by taking 15 runs off the 15th over including 3 boundaries a savage cut and deft leg glance from Gabriel and a brutal straight drive on the up from Pushan. This left us 13 runs to get from 4 overs and once Gabriel retired Olly S (1*) join d Pushan to steer us home with 2.2 overs to spare.

If the opposition had been able to make the most of the chances they created the game could have been much tighter but as it was it ended up another reasonably comfortable victory with all the team contributing in some way.

4th June – Under 11’s v Pirton CC

Another convincing win for the Preston Under 11 8 a side team who maintained their 100% winning run at Pirton’s expense this evening.
