A superb allround team performance from Preston saw them defeat high flying Broxbourne by 53 runs in Saracens Herts Division 2 on Saturday.

Batting first, Preston made steady progress to reach 88 for 3 by the 30th over, with the majority of batters all getting in on a two paced surface. Anthony Ender (33) again proved his worth with a steady knock, ably supported by both Ben Hill (22) and Warren Hearne (18). A classy 50 from William Gallimore then guided Preston into the batting points with the tail all playing important knocks, as Preston posted 176 for 9 from their allocated 53 overs.

Broxbourne set about the run chase in spectacular fashion as opener Kabil Gill smashed a quick fire 32 from just 25 balls. The removal of Gill by the aggressive Ender brought Preston back into the game, and with Mark Waters (4 for 61 from 17 overs) at his majestic best, the home side were reduced to 68 for 5 by the 20th over. Preston continued to work hard with the ball and in the field as they picked up wickets at vital intervals to help stem the run flow. Henry Morecroft and Andy Riant took a wicket apiece, but it was left arm spinner Max Anderson (3 for 7) who wrapped up the game as the hosts were dismissed for 123 in the 38th over.
