Preston 1st XI v Radlett 2nd XI, SHCL Division 2 Sat 18th May
—————————————————————

A sorry batting performance from Preston saw them lose by 71 runs against Radlett 2nd XI in a game that was dominated by some excellent bowling in seam friendly conditions.

Although they elected to bat first, Radlett were soon in trouble when Preston had reduced their visitors to 26 for 5 from the first 15 overs. The ever consistent Mark Waters (4 for 26 from 17 overs) proved a handful, ably supported by left arm spinner Max Anderson (3 for 20 from 12 overs) as Preston took a firm grip on the game. Radlett’s recovery was constructed around a stunning 84 from 15 year old Joe Cooke. The next top score was extras with 13! Preston finally dismissed their visitors in the 46th over for 129, a score which quite easily could have been around 80 had they bowled and fielded with a better discipline towards the end of Radlett’s innings.

Preston found the going just as hard when they batted, with the top 3 batsmen all falling for single figures inside the opening 7 overs. Indeed, only 3 of Preston’s batsmen made double figures as they were shot out for a very sorry 58. Radlett’s left arm seam bowler Lederman produced a wonderful display of swing bowling, picking up the remarkable figures of 8 for 24.
