3/4 July – Roundup
Weekend Wrap Up
*Preston take bragging rights in derby win*
Saturday 1st XI v Letchworth CC – won by 139 runs *Sponsored By Red Lion*
A James Stevens century (106) set up an outstanding victory over our Championship rivals. Preston posted 271/5 off their 60 overs as Callum Henderson (47), Jake George (38) and George Biggs (28) cameos supported Stevens.
Letchworth’s reply was made harder as Casey Walker (2-17) & Callum Henderson (1-35) took early wickets leaving the LGC 12/3. David Sprittles (66) batted well but Max Anderson (5-37) made easy work of the lower order, as Letchworth were bowled out for 132.
James Stevens would win MOTM kindly donated by The Red Lion.
Saturday 2nd XI v Northwood CC – won by 110 runs
The Second XI kept the 71 point lead at the top of 6a with a comfortable 110 run win over Northwood. Peter Gooden (76) and David Fleckney (44) were the stand performers with the bat. Oliver Galimore was fantastic, the ball taking 3 wickets for just 5 runs from his 10 overs.
Saturday 3rd XI v Northwood CC – Lost by 4 wickets
Matthew Burleigh (33), James Skirrow (36) & Iain Williamson (43) helped Preston reach 210. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough as a strong Boxmoor 2’s won by 4 wickets
Saturday 4th XI v Hoddesdon – Won by 3 wickets
James Denslow’s 3-29 helped restrict Hoddesdon to 163. In reply Craig Tennant (52) and David Saunders (40) set a fantastic foundation for fans favourites Rupert Bruce and Captain David Kay to see Preston over the line.
