PRESTON have signed Victorian seam bowling all-rounder Sam Crea for their 2015 Herts League campaign.

Crea (21) is a sharp left-arm seamer and hard-hitting middle-order batsman playing in the Victorian Turf Cricket Association for St Andrews Footscray.

An opening bowler, who’s been clocked at 130kph, Crea is into his first season with St Andrews having spent two summers apiece with rival VTCA club Werribee Centrals (2012/13-13/14) and Footscray Edgewater (2010/11-11/12) in the Victorian Premier League.

He enjoyed a strong season for the A Grade club, particularly with the ball having taken 23 wickets at 16.48 with best bowling figures of 5-17.

Recommended by IPL and Big Bash master-blaster Aiden Blizzard, Crea represented Victoria during an Under-17 trial match and has been used as a net bowler by the Australian’s.

He started playing Premier cricket at the age of 17 with Footscray Edgewater, alongside the recently retired County batsman Rory Hamilton-Brown. He played as high as 2nd XI for the star-studded club, before moving back to the Victorian Turf competition for Werribee Centrals.

In 2012/13, he was the “Club Champion” of the senior A Grade courtesy of 279 runs at 27.90, including a highest score of 126, and 43 wickets at 12.40, including figures of 6-30, helping the club win the A grade grand final.

Crea is a talented cricketer who’s hoping to make a big impact for Preston in division two of the Hertfordshire League this summer.
