Preston Under 9 vrs Weston

The young and inexperienced Preston team travelled to Weston to play their first ever game. Batting first Preston struggled to get many balls to hit as 92 extras were accumulated and only 8 runs off the bat of which Harry scored 7 including the only 4. Westons reply was led by their opener who smashed 30 and although we bowled straighter and gave less extras away we could not claim any wickets to leave the home side victors by 17 runs

Preston under 12’s   78/8 vrs Ickleford 97/3

The under 12’ claimed a victory in their first game as Ickleford could not raise a suitable side. The game did take place with Ickleford using a few over age players. Ickleford posted 99 from 16 overs of which our best bowlers were Ewan 1/9 Shaan 1/11 Luke 1/16 Frazer 1/13. Our reply was like a IPL game as 22 were smashed after 3 overs but we had also lost 3 wickets. Guy had scored 12 and with Olly C retiring on 22 we had a chance, With 30 needed off 3 overs and in glooming like we finished 19 runs short with Adam scoring 11

Preston under 11 8 a side 322/0 vrs Pirton 223/6

This weeks games finished with the under 11 eight a side team travelling to Pirton, with a bare 8 players available. Pirton had a inexperienced side out and elected to bat, they batted sensibly with none of the first 3 pairs giving their wickets away apart from a run out from Adam, the result of a direct hit from the boundary. At this stage the score was 233/1. The final 4 overs saw Preston bowlers take charge with Adam and Pushan bagging a brace and Jack bowling one. Good catches from Olly and Frazer saw the innings close on 224/6.

Preston reply started well with Jack hitting 3 boundaries and Jude hitting a rare 5, to take the score to 223, Pushan and Joe batted positively and lost no wickets to put on 31 with Joe scoring 14 and Push 6. Adam came in next with the inexperienced Olly S and batted sensibly putting the bad ball away and taking singles where possible, the scored moved onto 282, with Adam posting 23. The final pair of Frazer and Olly put on the highest partnership of 40, with Olly scoring 29, including a 6 and Frazer 2, to allow us to finish on 322/0. Credit to Pirton who never gave up and showed good spirt, we look forward to the them visiting us next Wednesday for a under 9 game.

Preston CC under 11 vrs Stevenage

Preston Cc 98/4   Stevenage 43/8

On a gloomy night in Stevenage, Preston found themselves inserted on a green track. Preston found themselves off to horrendous start when prolific batsman Joe Clarke and Olly Catlin were back in the pavilion after three balls. Olly’s dismissal saw the player retire from the field of play with a injured hand. Adam soon departed after hitting a boundary to leave us 5/3. A mature innings by Jack M and some excellent running by Luke saw the score go to 42 before Luke was bowled for 9. Jack had to retire for a well-made 30. Frazer then Jack C and Jude ran well and took the extras to take us up to 98 with Jude scoring 9*.

The Stevenage reply started under black clouds and drizzle, they soon found themselves in the same position as us 8/3 with Tom, Push and Olly clean bowling the first 3 batsman. It then became the Adam show as he took 4 wickets in 3 spells for 4 runs including a very good catch by Jude. The boys ran out winners by 55 runs. Well played all and thanks to Harry for making his hard ball debut.
