Preston under 11 Eleven a side game vrs Knebworth.

Knebworth 91/4 Preston 92/1

On a damp Sunday morning, Preston entertained local rivals Knebworth. Losing the toss Preston took the field. Some tight bowling from Adam and Tom, kept the score below four an over, the first bowling change saw Push and Jack come on and some good shots by Spencer saw the score accelerate, a couple of half chances came but Knebworth were getting on top. Olly came on at the top end and had got some tap in the first over, in his second over he claimed the first week when he bowled the opener, Adam was reintroduced and bowled some quick deliveries, in the meantime Spence retired on 32. As Knebowrth looked to push on a couple of chances came, but wickets fell when Tom took a caught and bowled and Jack uprooted the middle stump. Tom then claimed another wicket as Knebworth finished on 91/4.

Prestons replied started well as Joe and Jack hit boundaries. Some tight bowling from knebworth saw us fall behind the run rate. The first wicket went when Jack played a out of character shot and was bowled. Olly joined Joe at the wicket and they built a partnership that saw some quick singles and boundaries mainly hit by Joe. Joe batted well and retired on 32, to leave us needing 32 off six overs. Adam came to the wicket and hit an early boundary, the next over saw 12 runs come off the it, a couple more boundaries and quick running saw 5 needed from the last 2 overs. The win came when Olly hit a four and a single off the first two balls.

A good run chase and performance from the team.

Preston under 11 Eleven a side game vrs WGC

Preston 109/4 20 overs

WGC 86/ 5 20 overs

Preston travelled to Digswell park to play WGC. After the previous day victory the same team took the field, on losing the toss the boys were inserted. The same batting line was decided upon and Joe and Jack got us off to steady start taking singles with the occasional boundary.   Joe was first to go when he was undone by a low bouncing delivery to go for 11. Olly joined jack and immediately got the scoreboard ticking over with quick singles and twos. A couple of large scoring overs saw us increase up to six a over and a score of well over 100 looked possible. Jack had to retire after an accomplished 32. Adam came and unfortunately went quickly from another low delivery. Olly was approaching the retirement school but was bowled by another low delivery for 27. Luke and Frazer played some good shots to take us over the 100 mark to 109/4 from other allocation.

WGC reply started as the sun went down, the opener tried to be aggressive and hit a couple of boundaries before he was caught behind by Jude off Adams bowling.   Accurate bowling by Jack, Tom and Push put WGC behind the run rate, as the sun disappeared and it got dark. The slower bowlers of Olly, Jack C and Oliver were introduced to make the batsman try to hit the ball and a few boundaries came from the number 4 bat,who had come to the wicket after Push had bowled the opener. The run rate was up to 9 a over and the number 4 bat was going for it hitting a quick fire 23 before he was well caught by Luke off Adam, a couple of chances came but Push Oliver Joe and Olly with a spectacular one handed attempt were unable to hold onto them in the gloom. Tom was introduced at the far end and was on a hatrick as he bowled two batsman, the game finished with WGC on 88/5. Special mention to Jude who only let one bye go through in the gloomy conditions.
