2019 looms and the club is very much looking forward to the 2019 season. Another tough season awaits no doubt but we will once again be fielding four Saturday teams in the Saracens Herts League across Div 1, Div 6, Div 9 and Regional Div B East; our First X1 having gained promotion last year.

Sunday cricket will also be a key feature for the club and will once again have …

Preston 1st XI v St Albans, SHCL Div 2A

On a week when the rain finally fell, Preston 1st XI made the short drive across to St Albans to be hosted at Clarence Park. A green tinged pitch with some dampness around meant Preston flirted with the idea of bowling first. However Max and the side stuck to their guns and what had proved …

4’s v Tewin

The team traveled to Tewin in search of a much needed win with the threat of relegation  beginning to loom. Biggs (19) and Maxwell (39) batted patiently against the opening attack and were set to reap the rewards of the bowling changes when Biggs had to retire injured after one quick single too many. 4th’s v Harpenden – 50 for Macca but fall short

Despite Preston 4s bowling the opposition out for only the second time this season and posting their highest total of the season, it wasn’t enough to see off a Harpenden side that reached 231 all out from 36 overs.
Highlights in the bowling department were a fine 8-0-43-3 from Tom Maxwell and 5-1-39-4 for David Ogden who recovered well from a wayward opening over. Both bowlers were on hat …

4ths v Ware

The 4th team hosted Ware at Whitwell with both sides looking for a much needed win. Skipper Dave Saunders, confident in his stonger than usual batting and bowling lineup, put the opposition in on a parched Whitwell track, struggling in the on-going drought conditions.

Ware had no problems though as the openers put on 55 for the first wicket, Joe Clark (5-0-30-1) making the breakthrough, bowling Compton for 30. …
