Preston 1sts v Chipperfield Clarenden Chess Valley league Sun 9th June
—————————————————————–

Preston’s first XI visited Chipperfield Clarenden on Sunday in their opening Chess Valley league fixture of the season. Pete Murrell continued his fine form with his second century of the season as Preston, with some big hitting late on from David Fleckney, scrambled to 196-4. Some fine slow bowling from Max Anderson, Murrell and Fleckney seemed to have won the game for Preston, until Chipperfield’s number 11 smashed his first ball – and the last of the match – for the required six to send Preston to an agonising one wicket defeat. Fleckers was left to rue his best bowling for several seasons ruined by a last delivery low full toss.
